Gasthaus Wild

Bambi is featured heavily (and deliciously) in their fall menu, which I take as indicative of how seasonal their dishes are. Gamey, saucy, and with lots of Austrian heavy hitters like knödel and geschmorter Hirschlögel, which isn’t actually so difficult to get your mouth around.

Now I wouldn’t come here every week. Nor even every month. But that time when your folks are visiting, or when someone from out of town wants to try some Austrian Kitchen (as they all call it here), this is a delectably smart move. Next level Austrian cuisine maneuver it is not. Solid “dine out like you want that traditional wild pig ragout” it most certainly is.

Seriously though, it’s got that charm, that gasthaus warmth, only moderately offstandish waitstaff and in-house tasty desserts.  Prance on it.
